Cooperative Learning

By , About.com Guide

Definition:

A teaching and learning strategy in which a small group of students work towards completing a project. Each student is responsible for a specific portion of the project. An individual student is a part of a whole. When you bring all the students together, you have a complete project and a solid learning experience. In cooperative learning students become “experts” on their specific part of the topic and then other students can learn from their expertise. Each student essentially teaches the rest of the group.
