Definition:
An evaluation of a teacher's performance typically taken over the course the year through several formative evaluations. A summative evaluation is holistic in that you evaluate the teacher's performance in every area instead of focusing only on one area. To give an accurate summative evaluation, a school administrator typically needs to be visit a classroom several times over the course of the year so it is indicative of the entire body of work as opposed to one fifty minute lesson.
